Indoshelter is an educational community-centre for street-children and their parents in Semarang.

The objectives of Indoshelter are to provide:

• Day care (from 8.00-12.00) for street children of 2-6 years old 5 days a week, groups of maximum 12 children,
• Homework guidance, creative development like singing, dancing, making music, doing craft, English lessons, reading and wrinting lessons (from 13.00-16.00)for street children of 6 years and up, 5 days a week, groups of maximum 12 children,
• Safe and clean shelter,
• Basic medical assistance,
• Daily fruit and milk for all the children,
• Facilitate parent-meetings,
• Education of local staff, volunteers and parents on child care, healthy behaviour, physical and psychological development of children and the importance of keeping the children from the streets.

Indoshelter cooperates in this with a few organisations;

Yayasan Setara

Yayasan Setara is a Semarang foundation, established in 1999. It provides scholarships for secondary school children, after school activities, legal consultancy and advocacy for children from 6 till 18 years. We work together with this foundation because they have experience in working with street children and they can help us communicating between us and the parents of the children. Their knowledge and experience is very important for us. However, Indoshelter will be responsible for the running of the project and the project is financially independent from Setara.

Semarang International Community (SIC)

This is an organisation that groups approximately 140 international and Indonesian members. Their objectives are to bring members together share experiences help newcomers, sport activities and do charity. Indoshelter is their main charity program. They give a yearly contribution. In an international community members come and go, this is a good possibility to find new project members and volunteers. As SIC exists over 20 years this will be a guarantee for a long time organization.
