We started a dental program. Every child got his or her own toothbrush and we teach them how to clean their teeth. Most children have very bad teeth and with this program we try to teach them about healthy and unhealthy food and snacks and the importance of brushing teeth. We hope this way their adult teeth will be strong and healthy. These children never saw a toothbrush before. We arranged a real dentist to teach them how to brush properly.

We also started a basic medical program, we work in 2 steps;

Step 1

Keyko will check the weight of all the children monthly

Keyko will check the height of all the children 3 monthly

(Keyko had training how to do this and how to read the figures)

After comparing these figures with the growth table make a list of children who need special attention. Have consultation with these children with doctor and parents. We will contact the doctors as soon as we have this list.

Step 2

List of children who need extra medical attention even after the consultation get further examination.

Doctors try to find a volunteer nurse to take their blood in the shelter.

After blood results we look if they need more examination.
